GRAVING DOCK - Shipbuilding / Repair / Refit
This 1200’ x 200’ graving dock is one of the largest on the US East Coast caplable of drydocking large vessels like VLCC’s LNG tankers and cruise ships. The dock is served by two 200-ton Gantry cranes capable of handling extensive repair and refit projects as well as routine drydocking. At the draft of 27’ brackish, this facility is capable of handling many types of vessels, but for vessels with deeper drafts the basin can be super-flooded enabling vessels of up to 30’ draft to be safely docked.
While the dock is very large it is also extremely versatile. With its multi-position mid-gate, several drydock projects with non concurrent schedules may take place simultaneously and uninterrupted. Wet and dry operations can also operate simultaneously. This facility is available for use by your preferred ship repair provider or we can recommend preferred vendors that may be able to meet your ship repair and refit needs.

GRAVING DOCK - CARGO OPERATIONS
Handling of Heavy lift. Bulk. Break-bulk and Ro-Ro Cargoes
This area of the facility can also bve utilized as a wet berth for handling cargo with large-capacity cranes and generous space around the basin that are perfectly suited for heavy lift operations as well as bulk, break-bulk and ro-ro cargo operations. Complimentary facilities such as warehouses, shops, and paved and unimproved areas offer a myriad of opportunities for different cargo mixes to be stored, processed and handled efficiently. The location and infrastructure of the facility is also well suited for this cargo to move expeditiously to or from its destination via easy track access to I-695 / 195, rail service with a quick link to the mid-west, or be transhipped via another waterborne transportation mode.

Scrap Processing Yard
North Atlantic Metal Recovery operates a recycling facility in this area fo the Sparrows Point Shipyard. This company utilizes mobile hydraulic shears to process scrap metal from ship, barges and other heavy industrial scrap back into raw material for steel mills and foundries. The facility has the unique ability to process oversize and overweight surplus equipment delivered by water directly into the shipyard. Processed metal is currently shipped from the shipyard by truck and railcar, but the ability to ship out by barge is also available.
