Baltimore’s Maritime Industrial Park

Sparrows Point Shipyard and Industrial Complex, located on the Patapsco River and just minutes from downtown Baltimore, MD and major transportation routes, has a decades-long history as a working maritime industrial site.  The Shipyard is under new ownership which has committed substantial capital toward infrastructure modernization and refurbishing of the yard.  With further support by the local state and federal government, “The Point” is poised to be the premier eastern seaboard location for the maritime and heavy industry.

The site is now ready and available for leasing.  Please see our graphic for details about specific yard structures, buildings and land available.

Sparrows Point Shipyard/Industrial Complex has the location, space and transportation availability to serve your business.  Consider…:

  • There are nearly 50 acres of cleared, developable land located next to I-695 that is suitable for new build-to-suits.
  • 24-hour security, gated access. ISPS compliant.
  • Crane capacity (up to 200 ton exterior and 30 ton interior), deep water, dry docks, and 4000' pier space combine to ensure an exciting and complimentary mix of maritime related activities at the property including ship repair and maintenance, ship and barge breaking (demolition), barge building, lay berthing, fuel tank farms, and suited for bulk and break-bulk container freight station (CFS), project and Ro-Ro cargo.
  • The property is rail served by a short line operator (Patapsco and Back River Railroad) to both Norfolk Southern and CSX.
  • The State of Maryland’s Department of Business and Economic Development, Department of the Environment and Baltimore County’s Department of Economic Development have embraced the project by promising significant assistance relative to permitting, remediation, and tenant lease-up.  Numerous incentives are available for companies expanding to Sparrows Point Shipyard/Industrial Complex.
Owner Vincent Barletta, Maryland Governor Robert Erlich, Jr., Helen Bentley, and other state and local officials were on hand for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting in June 2004.  The site hopes to benefit from substantial national, state, and local governmental support in the form of government contracts, tax incentives and permitting allowances.
